Roadmap

Techne is a living project that grows and improves over time. This page shows what’s been completed, what’s currently in development, and what’s planned for the future.

Version History

✅ Version 0.1 — Level 1 Bare Essentials (Complete)

6 topics: Introduction to human potential, what people are capable of, internal and external barriers, and how to begin overcoming them.

✅ Version 0.2 — Level 2 Bare Essentials (Complete)

10 topics: Critical Thinking, Psychology, Emotion Management, Communication Skills, Science, Education, Community & Cooperation, Technology & Society, Efficiency, and Long-term Thinking.

Version 0.5 — Level 2 Intermediate (Planned)

Advanced theory, research evidence, complex scenarios, and detailed connections showing how Level 2 skills reinforce each other.

Version 0.6 — Level 3 Intermediate (Planned)

Expert-level systems thinking, organizational case studies, and sophisticated strategies for community and systemic change.

Version 0.7 — Level 1 Advanced (Planned)

Expert resources, teaching guides, contribution opportunities, and comprehensive bibliographies for human potential topics.

Version 0.8 — Level 2 Advanced (Planned)

Cutting-edge research, expert-level skill development, teaching methodologies, and deep dives into each Level 2 topic.

Version 0.9 — Level 3 Advanced (Planned)

Master-level systems work, organizational transformation strategies, and preparation for real-world application through the companion organization.

Version 1.0 — Full Release (Future)

All three levels complete at all three depths. First theme available (likely Star Fleet Academy). Polished, vetted, and ready for wide distribution.

Beyond Version 1.0

Themes

Optional aesthetic overlays that make content more engaging without changing the substance. Examples:

  • Star Fleet Academy (Star Trek-inspired)
  • Renaissance Academy (historical/classical)
  • Engineers Theme (for engineers)
  • Adventurer’s Guild (fantasy/RPG)
  • The Eldritch Society (Lovecraftian/gothic)
  • Additional themes contributed by the community

Themes rename topics and add thematic framing while keeping the core content intact. Users can translate between themes and base content for communication. Theme development will depend on both interest and people to make them. For more information see here.

Level 4: Synthesis & Application (Conceptual)

Apply integrated Techne principles to real-world challenges at varying scales:

  • Bare Essentials: Personal and small group projects
  • Intermediate: Community and organizational projects
  • Advanced: Societal and large-scale systemic projects

Structure will emerge based on Level 3 development and companion organization capabilities.

Companion Organization

A nonprofit oranization to help people apply Techne learnings through:

  • Study groups and practice partnerships
  • Community projects and collaborative work
  • Mutual aid and skill-sharing networks (like the Asynchronous/Asymmetrical Exchange Network concept)
  • Real-world application of systems thinking and community change strategies

Timeline depends on community growth and organizational capacity.

Development Approach

No Fixed Timeline

Development happens as energy, resources, and contributors allow. Quality matters more than speed. Some versions may arrive quickly; others may take longer.

Community-Driven Improvement

Techne improves through feedback from users and contributions from experts. Your input shapes future versions.

Transparent and Open

All development decisions, version updates, and major changes are documented and shared. This project belongs to everyone who uses it.

Practice What We Preach

The development process follows Techne’s own principles: critical thinking, long-term planning, community cooperation, and systems thinking guide how the project evolves.

How You Can Help

Use the program and share feedback. Tell us what works, what’s confusing, and what could be better.

Contribute expertise. If you’re knowledgeable in a topic, you can help develop Intermediate and Advanced materials. See Contribution Guidelines.

Spread the word. Share Techne with people who might benefit.

Join the community. Connect with other learners, discuss ideas, and help shape the project’s future.
