Getting Started with Techne

Techne is organized into three levels, each building on the previous one, with three depth options for every topic. This page will help you understand the structure and begin your learning journey.

How to Navigate This Program

Start with Level 1

Complete all six Level 1 topics at Bare Essentials depth before moving to Level 2. These topics are best learned in order (1 through 6). This foundation makes everything else easier.

Then Move to Level 2

Complete all ten Level 2 topics at Bare Essentials depth. You can study these in any order, though they’re designed to reinforce each other.

Finally, Level 3

Level 3 builds on everything you’ve learned in Levels 1 and 2. Again, topics can be studied in any order within the level.

Choose Your Depth

For each topic, you can choose how deep to go:

Bare Essentials gives you the core concepts, practical steps, and basic exercises. This is enough to benefit from the topic and understand references to it in other topics.

Intermediate adds deeper theory, more advanced tools, connections between topics, more complex exercises, and expanded research.

Advanced includes expert-level material, guidance on teaching others, opportunities to contribute, and comprehensive resources.

You don’t need to go deep on everything. Complete the topics at Bare Essentials and return later if you want more depth. However, going deeper in earlier levels makes later levels easier.

No timeline required. Some people move quickly; others take months or years. Understanding matters more than speed.
